GTA 6 Trailer 2: Everything Rockstar Revealed With It

Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025 — 2:47 of footage captured entirely in-game on PS5, set to The Pointer Sisters, with a relaunched GTA VI site that introduced the full cast and all six regions.

Seventeen months after the record-breaking first trailer, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. It was the moment the game's story came into focus: Jason and Lucia front and center, an official synopsis, and a whole new website full of characters and places. Watch it here, alongside every other official video.

The timing

Trailer 2 landed just four days after Rockstar's first delay. On May 2, 2025, Rockstar announced that GTA VI — originally slated for 2025 — would release on May 26, 2026, saying it needed "this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve." On November 6, 2025, a second delay set the final date: Thursday, November 19, 2026.

How it was made

Rockstar's own description is unusually specific: "This trailer was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes." In other words, nothing in it was pre-rendered — a point Rockstar repeated for the 27-minute Extended Look in August 2026.

The music

The trailer is set to "Hot Together" by The Pointer Sisters, credited in Rockstar's video description. NME also identified Wang Chung's "Everybody Have Fun Tonight," Zenglen & 5 Etwal's "Child Support" and Tammy Wynette's "Talkin' to Myself Again" playing briefly on in-game radios. For the official album, see GTA VI: The Album.

The official synopsis

Trailer 2 also brought the story summary Rockstar still uses: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." More in Jason & Lucia's story so far.

What launched with it

Rockstar relaunched its GTA VI site alongside the trailer, with an "Only in Leonida" section introducing:

How it fits the timeline

Take-Two reported that Trailer 2 debuted with over 475 million views across platforms in 24 hours, and it has since passed 184 million views on Rockstar's YouTube channel alone. It's been followed by the cover art reveal, pre-orders, the Extended Look and the album — the full sequence is in our trailer timeline.
