Every Region of Leonida Explained: Vice City, the Keys & Beyond

Leonida — Rockstar's version of Florida — is far more than one city. When Rockstar relaunched its GTA VI site alongside Trailer 2 in May 2025, it introduced six regions, each with its own headline and personality. Here they are in Rockstar's words, with what the community mapping project behind our interactive map has found in each.

Vice City — "Everything in Excess"

"We're a long way from the '80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America." Rockstar describes the glamour, hustle and greed of America in one city, naming the pastel art deco hotels and white sands of Ocean Beach, the panaderías of Little Cuba, the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, and VC Port, "the cruise ship capital of the world."

It's home to the music-money side of the cast — Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest and Real Dimez. On the community map, Vice City and its beaches account for 1,605 locations, from the Dominion Hotel (based on Miami Beach's Cardozo) to Y Vice City, a riff on the W South Beach.

Leonida Keys — "Gateway to Paradise"

"The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded." Rockstar's Keys aren't flashy — life is easy, but you're "right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America."

This is Jason's world: he works for local drug runners here, and Brian Heder still moves product through his boat yard. The map's Keys entries include Brian's Marina and the Key Lento sign, a twin of the real Key Largo sign.

Grassrivers — "Welcome to the Wetlands"

"The untamable jewel of Leonida's crown." Rockstar's Grassrivers is a primordial expanse where "the gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves." Official screenshots show airboats, gators and a police chase through the swamp.

Community mappers place it in Mariana County, home to a Grassrivers Visitor Center modelled on the Everglades' real Flamingo visitor center.

Port Gellhorn — "Live Hard"

"This is Leonida's forgotten coast." Cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls won't bring the tourists back, Rockstar says, but there's a new economy, "fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet."

It's one of the busiest areas on the community map, with 245 locations — including the Gellhorn International Raceway, modelled on Sebring, and the Bocamar Bridge, Leonida's answer to the Sunshine Skyway.

Ambrosia — "Keeping Leonida Sweet"

"The battle for the health and wealth of Leonida begins here." In the heart of the state, American industry and old-school values still reign: "The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else."

The map backs it up — Ambrosia's Sugar Mill is modelled on the real one in Clewiston, Florida, beside Lake Leonida. The Ultimate Edition's One-Eyed Willie's mod shop is in Lake Leonida too.

Mount Kalaga — "Wild, Wild Country"

"Room to breathe on the state's northern fringes." A national landmark on Leonida's northern border, Mount Kalaga "offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails," and its backwoods are home to "hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals" living far from the government.

Rockstar sends the Ultimate Edition's '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy here — "a Mud Club monster" for "the backwoods of Mount Kalaga and beyond." On the community map, the peak itself is Mount Kalaga, modelled on Table Rock Mountain in North Carolina.
