GTA 6: An Extended Look — 27 Minutes of In-Game Footage
Rockstar's longest look at GTA VI yet: 26 minutes 48 seconds captured entirely in-game on PS5, premiered on Netflix. Watch it here, plus what it confirms and what it means for launch.
Twelve weeks before launch, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — 26 minutes and 48 seconds that the studio says were "captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5," showcasing what it calls "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." It's the third main official video, after Trailer 1 and Trailer 2, and by far the longest.
Watch the Extended Look here — it plays right on our site, alongside every other official video.
How it premiered
Rockstar announced the video on August 6 with a 25-second teaser, and the details were unusual for a GTA reveal: the Extended Look would premiere on Netflix on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, then launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET the same day.
In practice that meant a six-hour window where the only way to see it was on Netflix. The YouTube upload went live at 6 p.m. Pacific, and by October 2 it was closing in on 30 million views on Rockstar's channel alone — not counting Netflix or the official site.
How it compares to the trailers
Trailer 1 (December 2023) ran 1:30 and Trailer 2 (May 2025) ran 2:47 — 4 minutes 17 seconds between them. At 26:48, the Extended Look is more than six times their combined length.
The tone of the marketing shifted with it. The trailers sold characters and mood, cut to music. The Extended Look's official description is about the game itself — in-game capture, on PlayStation 5 — and it closes with the line Rockstar now uses everywhere: GTA VI "plays best on PlayStation 5." No PC version has been announced; see what Rockstar's history suggests.
What it changed on our map
The Extended Look gave the community mapping project behind our interactive map far more to work with. Its verified dataset has roughly doubled since July — from 1,393 locations to 2,875 — and it now spans all six official regions, from 1,605 locations in and around Vice City to the backwoods of Mount Kalaga.
We've refreshed the map with the new data and a sharper, higher-detail render. 1,712 of those locations are matched to a real-world Florida counterpart, and the 667 with names each have their own page in our landmark database.
Where to watch it
- Here on Vice City Tracker: the trailers page plays it in a privacy-friendly player that only loads YouTube when you press play.
- On Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site, where it went live at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.
- On Netflix, where it premiered at 3 p.m. ET the same day.
What comes next
The release date is unchanged: November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Since the Extended Look, Rockstar has announced GTA VI: The Album and opened orders for the Vice City Collection collector's box.
